Arrived!
Basia (my co-retreat leader) and I have been planning this retreat via Zoom for 9 months now - including weekly calls for hours at a time over the past 3-4 months. We had never met in person yet as kindred spirits, a deep friendship/sisterhood grew as we planned and dreamed together.
Today, when I arrived at Flores after almost 24 hours of travel, Basia and I met in person for the first time! What an indescribable joy! As I’m sure you can only imagine, tears of gratitude were abundant!
Even after all of these months of planning, conversation, and discussing the space; however, nothing could have prepared me for the indescribable beauty, deep history and profound sense of sacredness that Flores embodies.
Flores del Camino Retreat Center is located in a building that was built in the 16th century!!! That is NOT a typo!! It has been beautifully maintained over the centuries and Basia & her husband, Bertrand, have added so many amazing artistic touches. Not only do they create their own sacred geometry mandalas and paint them with paint that they create from pigments harvested on the Camino, but they also do stunning stained glass and ceramic tile work as well. Around every corner is a new treasure to be discovered.
There is so much more I could share, but I am exhausted and ready to collapse into bed, so I will attach several pics and let these few images speak for themselves.
I am still pinching myself to make sure I am not dreaming. Thank you for sharing this dream journey with me in spirit and hope for all that will unfold in this sacred community over the days to come.
If you would please hold all those traveling here over the next day in your prayers I would be grateful. May their travels be smooth and safe…
